Why Does My Whole Chicken Appear to be Blue?
Here at Wild Pastures, we are proud to partner with several farms all over the USA , who care for several different breeds, depending on which part of the country we source out of.
You may have noticed that your whole chicken appears to have either a blue tint to the skin, or even a darker blue around the bones near the end of the legs/drumsticks. Rest assured this is nothing dangerous! One of our farms breed a Pioneer version, which has darker feathers. This can create hyper-pigmentation in the skin of the chickens. Since the processors we work with do not use any sort of bleaching agent to even out tone of the product, what you see is completely natural and harmless! It also will not affect the taste of the meat in any way.
